You're a generalist in the true sense of the word. You don't know what challenges tomorrow may bring, but you're happy to hack away at them - from high performance back-end applications to sophisticated web apps.

You love the uncertainty and ownership that comes with working at an early stage startup. If you need someone to hand you a well-packaged engineering puzzle, then this job isn't for you; you'll see projects through from concept to production to iteration. Here's what a typical week might look like for you:

  • Monday: Make some changes to our data processing algorithms in order to improve the accuracy of our data. We process billions of data points about millions of consumer transactions every day.
  • Tuesday: Crunch some numbers. We have terabytes of data that we need to comb through on a regular basis.
  • Wednesday: Build some new admin tools. We have a complex web app that we use internally for analysis and configuration.
  • Thursday: Add a new feature to our customer dashboard. Our web application is used by hundreds of marketers on a regular basis.
  • Friday: Just got some mockups back from the design team - time to make some changes to the website.
Requirements
  • Master of at least one scripting language (e.g., Ruby, Python, etc.) and at least one compiled language (e.g., Java, C/C++). Bonus points for Java and Ruby experience.
  • CS degree from a top school (or equivalent experience and talent). A strong background in CS fundamentals is a must for this position.
  • An appreciation for the delicate balance between expediency and elegance. You're a detail-oriented perfectionist who understands that sometimes "perfect is the enemy of good."
  • You must be incredibly smart and a fantastic engineer. Bonus points if your friends would describe you as one of the best engineers they know.
  • An all-around nice person who wants to surround themselves with other nice people. No jerks allowed.
  • Excited to work in downtown San Francisco. We will relocate you if necessary.
Bonus Points
  • Hadoop/big data experience.
  • Experience building high-performance, reliable distributed systems.
  • Entrepreneurial blood. We’d love it if Wove were a stepping stone on the path toward starting your own company.

Work on hard problems with awesome people; learn an incredible amount; have a great time doing it.

Come to San Francisco and learn what it's like to be on the ground floor of a venture-backed startup. We're a small, well-funded, fast-growing team taking on huge problems in data partnerships. Each month we process billions of data points about consumer transactions, serve millions of impressions in our nascent, quickly-growing email network, and help our customers reach tens of millions of users on third-party advertising platforms. We're crafting a trove of valuable data; our challenge is to harness the power of this data to drive a wide variety of sophisticated marketing use cases, all in an ever-growing highly-available high-performance environment.

This isn't your typical internship - you won't be fetching coffee while everyone else works on all of the cool stuff. You'll be fully integrated into the engineering team and treated the same as the rest of us from day one. You'll work on massive problems at massive scale, side-by-side with everyone on the team.

Don't worry, just because we're going to throw you into the deep end doesn't mean we expect you to already know how to swim. You'll have the engineering equivalent of those little yellow floaties - a full-time engineer dedicated to mentoring you and making sure you're up to speed and having an awesome time.

Wove is a tight-knit family. We don’t just work hard together, we have a ton of fun together too. We’ll go camping, team up to conquer every escape room we can find, or sometimes just take it easy with a game night at our beautiful office.

With that said, this job isn't for the faint of heart. We're looking for the best engineers who have a thirst for the dynamic, high-impact world of San Francisco startups. We expect you to come in as one of the strongest programmers in your peer group. We expect you to leave feeling like a seasoned engineer.

Think you're up for the challenge? If so, drop us a line - we'd love to hear from you.

Requirements

  • Rising senior pursuing a CS degree from a top school (or equivalent experience and talent). A deep understanding of CS fundamentals is a requirement for this position.
  • Master of at least one language (bonus points for Java, Ruby, or JavaScript) with the desire and ability to pick up a whole lot more.
  • An all-around nice person who wants to surround themselves with other nice people. No jerks allowed.
  • Excited to work in our awesome office in downtown San Francisco.
Back-End Engineer

You're a master of high-throughput, low latency, distributed systems. You don't get out of bed for less than a terabyte of data, and you eat a billion queries for breakfast. You're a performance-obsessed data crunching machine, but you also understand when it makes sense to build the perfectly scalable theoretically beautiful solution, and when it makes sense to hack something together that will get us through the next few weeks.

We process billions of data points about millions of consumer transactions every day, but we've barely begun to scratch the surface of this data's true potential. Our challenge is to harness the power of this data to drive a wide variety of sophisticated marketing use cases, all in an ever-growing highly-available high-performance environment.

While this may sound like a specialized position, we're a small startup. In order to move fast enough, we must all be generalists. We don't know what tomorrow will bring, but we know that it will certainly be different from today. We need to build systems for massive scale that can take us into the future, but we must also build with the understanding that we're in the business of evolving very quickly.

At Wove, our company motto is "Better Together" — we were founded on the belief that incredible things can come out of the right kinds of partnerships. And nowhere is this power of cooperation more apparent than on the Wove team. We're a group of 19 smart, passionate, fun people, each of whom has accomplished great things on their own; but when we get together, something really amazing happens.

It's time to take that team to the next level, and that's where you come in. If you view recruiting as little more than filling open job reqs, then this role isn't for you. Sure, you could go be a mercenary somewhere where your only job is to put butts in seats, but you're looking for more: the ability to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone else on the team and build something you're really proud of.

This is an early position at a young, well-funded startup, and you'll own one of the most important functions at the company. Your responsibilities will range from defining job profiles, to sourcing and recruiting top candidates, to analyzing our pipeline for bias. You'll be involved with every aspect of growing the team, and you'll report directly to the CTO.

As amazing as we expect you to be, we know you'll eventually need a team around you. We expect you to lay the groundwork for this.

Responsibilities
  • Own and operate the entire recruiting and hiring pipeline from sourcing to close.
  • Work closely with our CTO to develop and improve our hiring thesis, strategy, and tactics.
  • Own and improve our internal processes, interfacing with external vendors and tools when needed.
  • Help us ensure the best candidate experience possible.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of technical recruiting experience. Strong non-technical recruiters looking to make the switch are also welcome to apply.
  • You must be excited about building a company. Wove is a young startup, and we're all in this together.
  • Super organized and process-oriented. You'll manage a massive pipeline, and nothing can slip through the cracks.
  • High emotional intelligence. Recognize, understand, and handle a wide range of emotional queues and temperaments.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset. Write the playbook you want to follow.
